In this months newsletter, we look at how ventilation in the workplace can reduce COVID-19 transmission. New HSE guidance highlights how the amount of the virus in the air can be greatly reduced by simply opening a window / door (natural ventilation) or installing fans or ducts (mechanical ventilation) to bring fresh air from outside. Additional ventilation should be introduced as well as other precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Due to the relaxation of the majority of restrictions more people are going to be coming into contact with each other. Which is why it is just as important now to stay vigilant and follow the recommended guidance provided by the CLC.

The Official HSE app has been released: The HSE have released an app designed for small businesses or anyone new to health and safety. The app will help you understand the law, your health and safety rights, your responsibilities and how to protect employees. This app only covers basic information but provides a good starting point when being introduced to Health and Safety. For more detailed information on health and safety law please contact H&B, where we can assist with any queries.

Stronger employee engagement:  We look at an article provided by the HSE Network which explains why employee engagement helps Health and Safety culture in the business. Organisations should actively seek out the ideas, thoughts and opinions of their front-line workers when tackling health & safety challenges. The front-line employees are often most knowledgeable of the risks present in their work environment.
