  • COSHH Essentials – In this month’s newsletter we ask you whether you know your ‘COSHH Essentials’? A variety of harmful substances are found in our working environments. Knowing how to control these safely is key to safety and protection from harm.
  • HSE Dust Kills Campaign for Construction – Starting in may 2023, the HSE are currently visiting construction sites across Britain with a focus on ‘DUST KILLS’ with a targeted focus construction workers exposure to silica and wood dust.  How dust is managed onsite is a matter of life and death. Construction workers are dying and many more become chronically ill because construction dust can cause serious lung disease. Employers have a legal duty to control dust effectively and protect their workers’ lung health.
  • Employers must protect workers from the risks of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) being caused or made worse by work – MSDs include injuries and conditions that can affect the back, joints and limbs. As an employer, you must protect your workers from the health risks of working with display screen equipment (DSE), such as PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
  • Trucking company fined after Darlington man killed unloading a wagon – On 17 August 2018 the father-of-two was helping move a large piece of machinery from one trailer to another at the GCS Johnson depot at Barton Quarry industrial estate in Richmond.
